What can I expect on my first visit?
On your first
visit to our office you will be welcomed as a member of our family and our
receptionist will greet you with a warm smile. You will then be asked to
fill out some forms which will help us gain some information about you and
your condition. During your initial
consultation, Dr. Ballard takes a detailed health history and discusses
your current problems and their possible causes. The examination involves
a series of tests designed to reach a diagnosis. The tests include range
of motion, neurological tests such as reflexes, orthopedic testing, and a
complete chiropractic examination that may include an "Insight
Millenium"* exam. X-rays are usually needed to determine
whether your case fits within the scope of chiropractic. X-ray services
are available on site.
Once Dr. Ballard evaluates your examination results, she determines
whether chiropractic care is the best treatment for your problem. If not,
she will recommend another health specialist. If you are a candidate for
chiropractic care, she will discuss the appropriate treatment program and
what results can be expected.
*The Insight
7000 Millenium Subluxation Station is a computerized diagnostic
instrument used in
chiropractic assessment. Dr. Ballard uses the Subluxation Station to
assess a patient's
condition by reading the electrical signals of the muscles along the
spine, the most accurate measure of spinal health available. Subluxation
Station sensors pin-point problem areas, which may be missed in physical
exams or on x-rays.
Dr. Ballard uses the reports produced by the
Subluxation Station to educate patients about their condition. The Surface
EMG report illustrates areas of abnormal and/or normal nerve flow.
Using report data, Dr. Ballard is able to provide
patients with an individualized plan for chiropractic care. During this
personalized course of spinal adjustments, she uses regular Surface EMG
tests to monitor the effectiveness of her corrective techniques. The
Surface EMG tests empower patients in a way never before possible,
enabling them to chart their progress as their bodies return to a state of
optimal health.
What type of chiropractic treatment
will I receive on my first visit?
The primary
treatment is a chiropractic adjustment. The adjustment removes nerve
irritation caused by improper motion of the vertebrae, called subluxation,
by applying a carefully controlled and directed pressure. When clinically
indicated, we perform modern adjunctive therapy (TENS and intersegmental
traction). These enhance and speed up your body's own ability to heal.
